I am building a racial template that is basically a deep one.
The template runs about 150pts. I am adding an infectious attack, the bite of one of these things causes the victim to become one in about a week. I've read all the posts on infectious attack but I am still confused. The bite is the attack but it is the saliva that carries the infection. The bite by itself cannot infect the victim. I know I need "Blood agent" and "Onset (1 week)" but what else? Affliction? And how do I structure it to be linked with the bite? |

What Im asking here is do I create a follow-up or secondary for the bite which is the mechanism of injury that introduces the infectious saliva to the victim's bloodstream.
Or am I just over thinking this and should just make note that a victim that fails their HT roll will become a deep one in a week and thus flee to the sea to join their brethren. Last edited by ssveter; 10-29-2012 at 01:40 PM. Reason: Edit |

However, it can be statted out. I don't have the books with me, so I might miss something or use a name that isn't the official one and I don't have the costs, but... you want Affliction: advantage. The advantage is Morph (shapeshift), one-time-only, to the Deep One form. Somebody who knows the numbers better than I do will no doubt be along to fill in the blanks...

Just Infectious Attack, isn't it? B140.
Ah, I see. You don't need to do anything crazy. You specify one attack that inflicts the condition. Infectious attack doesn't specify rapidity or anything. So you specify bite only (and doesn't count if saliva doesn't get in the wound) and it takes a week to kick in. You don't need to put stat modifiers on it any more than a werewolf needs to put modifiers on it for their victims to not turn until the next full moon. Does that actually change the victim's species? (As I said, I don't have the books with me...)

Since it sounds like the new Deep One becomes an Ally of the old, I'd look at Dominance.

Okay. May as well go with the easy solution - that's why it's there.

Depends on whether you can actually control them. If the new racial package just comes with a bunch of mental disads that pretty much guarantee you're going to be a monster, I'd say Infectious Attack works.

Somehow that title sounds to me like a cocktail. Perhaps one that might be served at Hôtel Kromm. . . .
