I hate to start a thread about this when I'm primarily trying to contact one specific person, but the private message feature of these fora seems determined to not work for me and I don't have an e-mail address for Akahige. With luck, the subject matter of this post will be of sufficient interest to enough people to excuse my poor form... again. [sigh]
I have a G4E Time Lord template that you might find useful if only as an example of how you wouldn't do it in your own game(s). I'm not 100% satisfied with it myself, but I'm willing to post it and pick nits about it with interested persons. It is, of course, subject to revision pending my acquisition of GURPS Powers, but as it is, it represents "close enough" for use in my (pitifully small) GURPS Doctor Who chronicle.

I did receive your message attempt, but just as before, it came across empty (except for the reply quote). I don't know why I didn't think of checking the forum! I sent you my e-mail address, but posting here is fine by me as well.
Also, I'm in the process of negotiating use of someone's 9th Doctor description for Time Lord, for use in my GURPS conversion. That, hopefully, will be online soon. My current write-up includes only recurring Time Lords, plus a TARDIS. The description for "Rejuvenation" has also been slightly revised to accomodate non-nanotech theories, and that'll be posted with the 9th Doctor update. As I said in our earlier conversation, I'm very conservative when it comes to assigning racial powers. Many of the Doctor's abilities were explained in-series as being tricks he learned, but later writers mistook them for racial traits. Still, I'm happy to view other Time Lord templates to see what I might've missed! Last edited by Akahige; 11-08-2005 at 01:18 PM. |

On the other hand, in Dr Who (bad wolf season again) they do answer how to handle a paradox. Anytime the PCs start to give you a headache due to going back to before to redo some fixed event, just go and sterilize the wound in time.

Time travel just leads to far more problems and "on the fly" GMing than I like to do. Here you had a set pattern of events or how things might go, the PCs go back in time and fudge with history and poof, you have to dicide what happens afterwards.
No thank you.

They can be a great inspiration for that sort of situation. Also, there are ways to work around it: -Sterilize the wound (as mentioned above) -Rigid Time (something happens to cancel out the changes) -Timeline fracture (new reality created parallel to the old but incorporating the changes) ... |

Time travel to me is more impossible and illogical than say...magic.
