Hi
I recently bought Munchkin dice and i don't really understand the card Narrow Minded. For the part + 10 on a Half-Breed is okay but for the rest i'm not sure. The card say " Any penalty it has against any component race of the character is reversed and becomes a bonus " What is a component race ? Do that mean that a monster + 5 against elve become - 5 against elve ?? |

Okay, you're a Half-Breed Dwarf/Elf and you are facing Santa, who has a -5 penalty against Elves. Someone plays Narrow Minded on him. Because you are a Half-Breed he gets a +10 bonus and because Elf is a component race of your Half-Breed nature, his -5 penalty against Elves now becomes a +5 bonus. This means that Narrow-Minded Santa (a Level 9 Monster) is an effective 24 against you. Of course, you drop the Half-Breed and the Dwarf and suddenly you're looking at a wimpy Narrow-Minded Santa with an effective 4. . .

I still don't see why this is a Treasure card instead of a Door card. It's the only monster enhancer to be such, and it's such a restricted, specific card that it's actually less useful than the other enhancers in the game.
I have two sets of Munchkin Dice (because hey, Munchkin Dice) and I happily put all of the cards into the deck so we have several Darks, Highs, etc., but I've pulled the Narrow-Minded cards out. Everyone (including myself) sighed when they drew them for treasure. I thought about peeling the face off and gluing them to a Door back instead, but decided to just toss 'em into the underwear drawer with the Kneepads instead.

Erik has stated that Enhancer Enhancers can be played at any time during any combat where a Monster Enhancer that adds or subtracts Levels.
Can an Enhancer Enhancer (e.g., Really, Really) be used on Narrow Minded? Does it matter whether the monster is actually receiving a bonus from being Narrow Minded? |

Ah, so is it safe to say that Narrow-Minded is also not copied by Mate or Mommy, then? It's something I've pondered for a long time, but if it's not a Monster Enhancer at all, then that solves the issue.

It does give a specific bonus: +10 vs (1/2-breeds, 1/3-breeds, and chimeras)
It enhances the monster, so if it's not a Monster Enhancer, then what is it? |

I think MunchkinMan is saying that it doesn't always provide a bonus, instead providing a contextual one. The definition of Monster Enhancers from the rules is:
Quote:
I classify all my cards into a database so I can easily look up statistics and so on and I was also struggling with whether to call it a monster enhancer or not. I did have it marked as one, but given MM's ruling, I changed it to a combat one-shot instead. It joins the ranks of Wandering Monster, Dead Broke and Typographical Error. |
