Greetings all
I've recently fallen in love with this game and want to learn to play it correct and find as I play questions about what we can and can't do and when are constantly coming up and while as the game owner I want to just forge ahead and say that "this is the rule" as I'm the only one who has actually read the rules, it occurs to me that one day a friend may actually read the rules for themselves and would in return go all munchkin on me and backstab. So I want to stab first.... 1) How can cards become carried? Can I place them there from my hand as part of discard? Can I place treasure cards that I recieve as carried? 2) If I have 5 cards in my hand, and I help someone for 1 or more treasures, which would give me 6, do I have to discard even though it's not my turn? Can those treasure cards be played right away? 3) If I have to give away one of my items for whatever reason, or lose an item, and said item is cursed, can I dispose/give that card away, and does the curse follow? 4) Can a Race/Class card be carried or must it remain in my hand? As you can see, I don't fully understand the whole 'carry' cards part of the game. I get the principle of it, you're carrying them and they aren't active, but I just don't get how the get there. 5) can I change my Race/Class out at any time? 6) If I get a treasure card that's a level up but it's not my turn, can it be played right away? Ditto for items? 7) Is name calling allowed and/or enforced? 8) What are some good names and/or enforcements for said names? Well, I really hope that I remembered all the questions....I wrote them down, but forgot them at home.... Thanks! |

Welcome!
1) Only items can be carried. Items have a gold piece value (even "No Value") Any item played to the table is carried, but you do not get the bonus from items carried sideways, as they are not equipped. So you can CARRY two headgear, but you may normally only wear one (unless a card says otherwise.) 2) You may have unlimited cards in your hand until your turn comes around again and you get to the Charity phase. You may only have 5 cards in your hand at the end of your turn. 3) There are different rules for different curses. Many of them say you can not get rid of the item while it's cursed. Some say the curse goes with, some don't. These special cases are usually spelled out, but if they aren't, searching the forums for a specific card may help. A lot of these things come up more than you'd imagine. 4) You may not have more than one Race or Class with out a Super Munchkin, Half-Breed, Ultra Munchkin, 1/3 Breed, etc. As per answer 1 above, since Races and Classes don't have gold piece values, they are not items and cannot be carried unused. 5) You may discard a race at any time. You may play a new one any time on your turn or as soon as you get it (for example, someone gives you one during charity, or you loot it from a dead munchkin.) 6) Go Up a Level cards may be played at any time on any player. Items may be played any time on your turn (except during combat) or as soon as you get them. Regarding questions 5 and 6, the Critical Links and Useful Information sticky thread in this forum has a GREAT post that acts as a cheat sheet for when every type of card may be played. 7) That's really up to you and your friends and whether or not feelings would be hurt. 8) I just love calling everyone a munchkin in a very sarcastic tone if they've hurt me. Enjoy the game. It's loads of fun.

Why, thank you. If you were to go hunt down my first posts here (less than 5 months ago,) I had similar questions. Many of mine would have been answered just by reading the rules again. And make sure to keep an eye on this thread, because others are bound to come clarify my clarifications further. I love these forums, and hope to play with lots of the members someday.

Playing an Item to the table is not considered a discard. You can play Items to the table immediately when you receive them or at any time on your turn unless you are in combat. Quote:

Basically, all the things you have on the table in front of you are in play. You are carrying only the Items you have in play and you use a subset of your carried Items. The cards in your hand aren't given any special terms apart from being 'your hand'. Quote:

The sections in the rules for these card types does cover this, BTW. Quote:
Edit: had a feeling somebody might beat me as I typed all that up... Oh well, hopefully you get something out of it too. |
