What is the exact definition of just in "...you have just played or discarded..." in Sylph Preservation?
1. If no one play/discard any other cards? 2. My last (even 10 mins before) played/discarded card? 3. Within 2.6 (or other arbitrary pre-defined number) seconds? Thanks.

"Just" means "immediately".
In this case, it would mean that no other cards have been resolved between. |

I think it goes further than that. It also means no Class/Race abilities have been used, no trades have been performed, charity hasn't been done, and no sales for levels have been made. In essence, it means that no game events have happened since the card was played.

Is this (no card events have happened) the right interpretation?

I think it's: play one-shot in combat>play Sylph Preservation>take one-shot back in hand as cards from combat are being discarded. Sometimes you just have to play things in a way that makes sense (and is fair) rather than try to interpret every single word.

No, the +X to either side cards, monster enhancers and so on don't stay in effect while they are not on the table. However, Sylph Preservation can be used at two different times, either after you play or after you discard a card. For those one-shots that apply a bonus until they are discarded, choose to use Sylph Preservation when you discard them. For those that apply an immediate effect, like Pollymorph Potion, use the immediate effect after playing the card of Sylph Preservation.
The only problem here is that it says you must discard the cards, so I guess you can only get cards back if it's your combat, as the combat owner discards all the cards. It does allow you to actually get some neat cards from other players, though. Perhaps this is incorrect intent due to the use of "back into your hand", though. I encountered the following situation recently:
1. In his turn, Player A, a Level 6 Cleric is fighting the Plutonium Dragon, he can't beat the Monster alone. 2. Player B agree to join the combat as Helper in exchange of all Treasures. 3. They win, and lucky for Player A, one of the Treasure is Divine Intervention. 4. Player B played the Divine Intervention immediately, Player A is now Level 9 (6 + 2 from Plutonium Dragon + 1 from Divine Intervention). 5. Player A discarded Divine Intervention to the discard pile, because it is his turn. 6. Player A played Sylph Preservation to take back Divine Intervention to his hand, because he can "...Discard this card to take any card that you just played or discarded..."! 7. He played Divine Intervention again and he win. Is this the official intention of the Sylph Preservation card? Is this a legal play? Thanks. (For those who are interested, I'm the poor Player B...)

Divine Intervention is a Door, so you did something wrong from the outset. That said, if Player B hands a card to Player A to place in the discards, that doesn't mean that Player A is the one who discarded it, so yeah, he was cheating.

Good to know that this is not a legal play and learn that the one who put cards in discard pile =/= the one who discard the cards. Thanks.

If you're using sleeves, it's generally best to use two different colors for Doors and Treasures to avoid this problem.
