I have searched the forums and just need a bit of clarification.
We played our first game today and for some reason my son must have drawn 3 race cards. He can't just put those cards on the table because they are not "items" (ones with values) but if he already chose a race can he simply put the extra races in the discard pile or does he have to discard the race he currently is, play the new one and discard it? I must be missing something because he had several race/class cards on the table but it didn't seem right. I promise I searched the forum for an answer and found several topics, read the FAQ and the rules :) but my old brain just seems to not be getting it. We had a blast anyway! |

I think I see the confusion. When you draw a Race or Class card, you put it into your hand -- you don't have to play it immediately. They're not like monsters or curses, which you have to play when you draw them during the Kick Down The Door phase.
You may only have one Race in play and one Class in play, unless you have a card or ability that allows you to have more than one (such as the Super Munchkin and Half-Breed cards). You may discard a Race/Class that's in play, at any time. You may play a Race/Class at any time during your own turn, or when you first get the card. So to replace an existing Race/Class with one from your hand, you discard the existing card and play the new one. But this can only be done on your turn or if you just received the Race/Class card. Hope this helps! Last edited by RL; 07-01-2012 at 03:43 PM. |

so basically if you get dealt a several race or class cards and you already have a race and class in play thee only way to legally thin out your hand to stay under the 5 limit would be to discard your in play race/class and put in play a race/class from your hand? They can't simply be put on the table because they are not "items".
What happens if you need to lose cards to stay below 5 cards in your hand? If you have played every legal card it goes to charity and if charity doesnt work you then are able to discard the excess? Could I then on my turn decide I wanted to change classes to one of the 2 or three I am holding and then simply keep playing discarding until I settle on the final class/race? Sorry I know it's a lot but the more I think, the more I confuse myself haha |

Charity never fails to get you to five cards, because you're giving away any excess cards. |

And note that charity only happens at the end of your turn. You are allowed to have any number of cards in your hand at any other time, you just have to get down to five at the end of your turn. First you can play or sell anything you are allowed to and then you must charity the remainder, which is giving them to the lowest level player/s unless you are one of the lowest as you discard them instead. You seem to be agreeing with the method of charity, but it wasn't clear if you realised that it only occurs for you at the end of your turns.

Yes, I did understand that part it was more of the mechanics of it, during charity if the receivers cant use what you are giving away, do they have to take it and then its up to them to get rid of it during their turn? ...i'm 40 so I am a little slow :) haha
