I wanted to start a new thread to avoid cluttering up the Vassal discussion.
Regarding counting the range taking a firing action, I'm fairly certain that's not a standard Car Wars rule, as the first I remember hearing about it was on here in the past month or so. I can't imagine having anything but a riot on my hands if I tried to institute that rule at any table I ever played Car Wars at. If it's about keeping the game moving, a tape measure marked every 4 carlengths can do that nicely. If it's about stopping people from being jerks, the solution is to call them on their jerkitude and not play with them in future (and I have to admit I can't understand how counting the range could be jerky behavior). If there has to be an "in-fiction" justification for allowing it, there are probably millions of cues a person in a car gets from being there that we don't get from sitting at a table and moving figures around. I guess what I'm saying is... does that rule make the game more fun for everyone? What does it add?
