Direct to video sequel question

We had a scenario in game play where a monster card was played along with enhancers and several other monsters. The player asked for help and got it and they barely managed to defeat these monsters. I then played the direct to video sequel card which brought back everything minus the one time use items. They were unable to defeat it a second time and had to run away - which they managed to do successfully. The question is since they ran away from the 2nd set of monsters from the direct to video sequel card - do they get the levels and treasures from the first combat? If so - would they get the levels and treasures BEFORE going into the 2nd combat brought back in or after they ran away and combat was over? I read through the forum but there seems to be mixed opinions so I was just trying to get an official answer on this one :) Thanks for the help!
