Is there any chance of getting an brief overview of some of the templates from DF?

In particular I have wondered what concepts the Justiciar and those from DF Summoners are built around

I am imagining that those from DF Summoners use magic as powers rather than standard spells?

Also is there quite a lot useful about those rules as a worked example for non DF games?
