The game board from Munchkin Deluxe is now available for purchase from Warehouse 23.

Awesome! I'm considering getting it, even though I use Munchkin Dice for level counting. I wish it came with the character cards, is all.

Just buy male and female Munchkin pawns, and use THOSE to keep track of sex. That's what I did, when I decided I wasn't going to go for the Deluxe version.
As cool as it looks, and as good an idea as it SEEMS to be, ultimately I decided the board wouldn't work well for ME, as it would take up too much space on the table JUST to keep track of levels. (Our kitchen table isn't that big, and we often have a LOT of cards in play.) I just got the pawns and level counters and called it good. Now I just need to pick up a color version of the core set to replace my ancient one. (Was hoping I could snag the special Target version, now that the test has expanded to my area, but it seems likely that only the initial slate of stores got the special version, and if I'm just getting the regular one, I'd rather use my FLGS.) |

Yep, I got both sets of pawns, which is why I'm considering it. :)

Yeah, I have the pawns too, but I've been using them with the rule that lets you trade a level for a 1d6 bonus. I'd rather save them for that and have the cards to show the player's sex.
Plus, the board doesn't go to 20, so we can't play epic games on it. We'd still have to bust out the d20s. I think I'll pass for now. |

Not to be Cap'n Obvious here, but if you have a male and female pawn for each player, you can always have one on the board to track your level and one available for the special pawn rule.

Myself, I never used the special pawn rule because it didn't seem worth it. Trading a level for a 1d6 combat bonus seems like it would not be that great a deal in most cases. (Unless you could trade levels you weren't allowed to take anyway, because you were already Level 9. But my reading of the rule doesn't seem to allow that.) |

Well, that's silly of me. I somehow just skimmed it, or spaced that part. That would be the case I would use it in. But even there, doesn't seem that useful. Most ways to get a level that wouldn't work at Level 9 are not legal to initiate anyway, I would think. Nothing in the pawn rules gives me the idea that it allows you to play a card illegally (which most cards that would give you a level would be, at level 9) JUST to take a pawn instead of the level. "...or when you do something that WOULD earn you a level if you weren't already Level 9". If you weren't level 9, playing a GUAL would earn you a level. Thus, when you're level 9, you can play a GUAL and use your pawn to get a +1d bonus to combat. It's as simple as that. :)
