Vast, Horrible Glyphs Graven on the Walls.
It says if you arent a cultist, lose a level, if you are go up a level on the first part. Now does the "you" apply to everyone? I kicked the door open and that was revealed, so I assumed it happens to me. My friends think it happens to all. Honestly I'm not sure which is the case. |

I ran into this same situation with my friends. I felt it should apply to the person hat draws/plays the portal card. My friends differed.
In my view, card text in general seem to make it clear when the effects of a card apply to the whole group; therefore, when the pronoun "you" appears, I assume that since the card doesn't specifically state it affects the whole group, it only affects the person that played the portal card. I ultimately invoked the rule that because it was my set of cards, I had the final say.

The way I see it: Portals affect everyone in the party. So if the Portal is drawn, everyone who is not a Cultist lose a level, all Cultists go up one (but not the winning level).
The exception to this is if a Portal card tells something different, like saying that each player goes into the dungeon one at a time (as Narrow Passage do in the Fantasy expansion).

It's actually as Signboy described. The instructions are for the person playing/revealing the Portal, not for the entire party, unless it specifically says otherwise. So, in the case of Vast, Horrible Glyphs Graven on the Walls, and every other Portal in the set I can find, every single instance of "you" refers to the player who played/revealed the card, not "all you players in the party." However, the card does come with some context clues: If it did mean the plural form, how would you expect to resolve the second part of the Portal's instructions? Every single player in the party gets to get rid of a Dungeon and play a new one? In what order? The plural interpretation leaves too many unanswered questions that it just doesn't seem logical (we would hope) that we'd leave so much unexplained after a thorough playtest or two.

Oh, yes, of couse Erik is right!
I was thinking the card as a Cavern, not as a portal. Really, I need this caffeine thing people so much talk about. I'm ashamed.

Caffeine is a harsh, harsh mistress, but she gives such great rewards sometimes. . .
