A couple of quick questions about Weakness...
1) What does "...in the presence of a particular substance..." mean? The same hex? The same room? No specific range is given. 2) The limitation FP Only, -50%...does that mean it drains FP first and then drains HP (i.e., the way fatigue loss usually works) OR does it mean it only drains FP and when you get to -FP, you are unconscious and remain that way until you are no longer near your Weakness, and then you recover normally? Anyone know of any "official rulings" on these? Thanks. Mark |

Generally speaking, direct contact. Consider the things it's supposed to represent. Cold iron, holy water, kryptonite, sunlight. Stuff that burns on contact except for kryptonite...and the weakness isn't so much to the physical object there, but the radiation it gives off. n

But how big a room? 10' x 10'...20' x 20'...what? This is one of the reasons I wanted a formal ruling from someone like Kromm...compared to, say, Dread, which lists the cost for a range of effect, the rules for Weakness are a bit too open-ended.

I may get around to that eventually. I prefer not to fire off PMs to people unless I know them well or have a legitimate reason to do so (reporting errata, etc.). When I do, I feel like I'm pestering them. It's one thing to post a question in the forums but when you send someone a PM, that's sort of like calling their house. (I know this is just a quirky generation thing on my part--I'm old, okay?--I'm not trying to slam on people who send PMs.) Plus, I figure anyone else who was interested in the question would be interested in seeing his posting here.

As far as FP Only, my understanding is that it works a bit like the weaker variant of the FP drain from Leech, meaning you won't take HP damage once you lose all your FP. Actually I always thought it would just take you down to 0 FP, not -FP, not that's a question too. The weaker Leech FP variant doesn't take you to -FP, but to 0 FP. But then again, Leech is a strange beast and extrapolating anything from its mechanics is probably ill-advised.
