Assume all players are at lvl 9. A battle with monster. It seems as the player will win. Can the other players now in turn sacrifice lvls to steal the book from eachother and thereby gain spells. Until they reach lvl 1. This strategy seems to break the game ending mechanism. I would suggest that only the players can sacrifice levels at their own turn (such as before opening a door). Discarding three cards is ok at any time, even in combat. What do you think? Did you ever encounter this problem with the Munchkinomicon? Tnx.

O_o I don't see what the problem here is? Two players take a gamble that they can get a spell that will prevent the in combat player from winning and they reduce their levels to do so. Unless they have some kind of amazing trick in their hand, they have probably just delayed their loss by a few turns.
