in monster hunters 1: Champions it describes the nature of grimoires and the price when looking to buy them, but not how to make your own.
granted it says after every mission you can roll to see if you find the grimoire for the ritual you are looking for but thats not the same as making a grimoire. it will require the writing skill and a blank book. size and weight will determine the bonus just like when buying them. ritual mastery for the spell you want to turn into a grimoire can be needed too. i don't know what time factor can be used to write one up, it could be weeks to months. the only good up side to it is that the end product will have the bonus you want. even though it will take a long time. what does the hive think? what else can be added and used to making your own grimoire? |

MH1 does not have rules for PCs making grimoires. This is intentional. I did this for the same reason that PCs aren't allowed to make enchanted magic items in Dungeon Fantasy -- to keep the focus on the adventure, not on the downtime. So the rules for PCs making grimoires is, "Sorry, you can't."

Gurps didn't have some rules somewhere in Thaumatology for making grimoires or something?
