Default Monster Hunters Ritual Magic System

I am reading through this magic system and I think it's really cool but I am having some difficulty deciding on how to construct effects. For example: how would you make an invisibility ritual? a permanent effect? What about if the setting has more blatant magic as the norm?

the invisibility part can be done in different ways. either path of energy (bending the light so they can't see you and/or sound so they can't hear you too) or even use path of mind so people cannot see you or path of spirits so demons and such cannot see you.

greater control energy so light can bend around you. add area effect so you can encompass more people.

im guessing for a permanent effect you can use a curse which would be conditional rituals. so greater control energy + lesser control magic can make someone invisible till a condition is met. that can even be a quest in it self!

turn someone invisible till they give you 1 millions dollars hehehe....

if the setting has more blatant magic then you can rule that the greater effects (multiplying the cost) does not exist.

I'd say that's too much. It removes any difference between things that are really complex and things that aren't. Reducing the multiplier or increasing the amount of energy you get from Magery seems like a better way to increase the power of magic.

For "blatant" settings perhaps the thing to do would be leave the rules as is but redefine what lesser and greater effects are in that particular setting. That is "define the laws of magic" for that world.

I understand. The most important thing is to not worry too much about it -- for any given spell, there may be multiple "spell effects" which can cause it, so if something seems at all plausible, go for it.

Greater Destroy Energy with Altered Traits (Invisibility).

Ritual path magic doesn't do permanent effects. (At least, not via the standard system. The GM is free to invent special "permanent spells" to be used as plot devices.) For extremely long-term effects, choose however many years you want the effect to last and pay energy as shown under the * footnote on the Ritual Effect Table.

That just means people can feel comfortable to use Greater effects. It definitely shouldn't change the energy costs, since those are in place for balance reasons, not just to discourage flashiness.
