Good morning to all of you.
I do not know if these questions should be separate threads or not since they are all related to Munchkinomicon. The rules state "If you sell the Munchkinomicon, or are forced to discard it by a Curse, Trap, or Bad Stuff, it goes back on top of the Treasure deck." and you can receive the Munchkinomicon that is in play if you "Plays a Curse, Trap, or Madness card that actually affects another player." -Does this mean if the curse makes me discard a small item, I can choose the Munchkinomicon and the player of the Curse does not get it? -Do Spells get discarded in the middle of a combat only to be included in a reshuffle if Spell cards run out? We played that the played Spells remain in the combat until the combat is over similar to how most other one-shots and other cards that are played on the combat are still laid out for all to review. If not, then it's possible to recirculate already played Spell cards. -The rules state "You may not redraw the Munchkinomicon on the same turn that you sell or discard it." There is a Spell card that allows you to take the Munchkinomicon from the current holder of it, even if it is on top of the Treasure pile. Does that mean it can override the written rule if you sell it on your own turn and then play this particular Spell? The Spell card does not say it overrides the rule, but it is above the normal way you can acquire the Munchkinomicon. Thank you for your assistance. |

For your 1st question: The Curse affected you. You discard the Munchkinomicon (the effect), he then takes it from the Treasure deck.
For your 2nd question: It depends on the effect of the Spell. If it's a continuing effect that can't be resolved until the end of the combat, then it should stay. If it's an instant effect (e.g, a generic instant effect would be to discard a Monster immediately), then the Spell should get discarded. For your 3rd question: if you're referring to Summon The Book (the only Spell you could be referring to, really), I answered that here. Last edited by MunchkinMan; 03-28-2011 at 11:09 AM. |

The reason I ask the first question is because of this part of the rules: "If it is in play, it will immediately move to anyone who..." and part of the list is playing a curse that can affect you. The key part of the sentence is If it is in play.... If the Munchkinomicon is on top of the treasure deck, I thought the only way to acquire it would be to draw treasure. Thus, if I discard it due to the curse, I was thinking that it would be a viable strategy to keep the cursing player from acquiring it and feeling like he was being sneaky and taking it from me. That being said, if that is not true, then wouldn't it being on top of the treasure deck make it vulnerable to the numerous ways you can acquire it and then draw a spell? |

The Curse was played while you had the Munchkinomicon, so the player who Cursed you gets it no matter what card you discard to fulfill the Curse requirements.

shouldn't the cursing player get the Munchkinomicon before the cursed player can choose a small item to discard?

The curse has to resolve first. Once it does, the M'con will travel, but its motion does not interrupt the curse.
