ITEMS - PLAYING THEM
Any item card may be played on the table as soon as you get it, or at any time during your own turn.

Just checking how this rule works.
According to this threadyou may not play items during a combat, even if you just got them.

So, say if you happen to get an item on another persons turn, may you play it then? (helping in combat, tripped over own chest, pinata)

According to the rules, actually ("While you are in combat, you cannot sell, steal, equip, unequip, or trade items, or play items (except for one-shots) from your hand."). It just got re-stated in that tread.

Yes, you can play it if you just got it, just so long as you are not in combat.
