Contagious Glory vs Elf

I just received Munchkinomicon and are reading through the cards while I'm looking forward to trying them out.

The spell Contagious Glory states that the helper can get no more than a single level. Does this mean that I can use it against an Elf helper to make him get only a single level even if there are multiple monsters in the fight?
I'm guessing yes but just wanted to get it confirmed.

Contagious Glory indicates that the helper will go up no more than 1 level if the munchkins win no matter what other cards might be in play. I would read that as such: the Elf helper has an Elf race card in play, therefore his ability to get 1 level for each monster would be negated by the Contagious Glory card.
