So my son and I just bought Munchkin card game and ready the rules and gave it a whirl last night. Lots of fun but I have a couple of questions. 1) my turn, I'm in the process of about to start battle, can my son play a monster out of his hand to have an extra monster for me to fight? 2) e d of my turn and I have 7 cards, do I give my son, same level as me, 2 of my cards to make me have 5? Or is that only for lower level. 3) my turn, in battle, can I replace my race card say from elf to warrior if I have it? Thanks Alot. Looking foward to answers. We just played one game but many more to come!

Moved this thread to the Munchkin Forum. ("SJ Games Discussion" is to talk about the company in general.)

1) If you are already in a combat, other players may play cards to affect that combat, but only cards that can be legally played. Just playing a Monster by itself to the combat isn't a legal move. The ability to play a Monster card into a combat requires the use of another card, like Wandering Monster.
2) Charity is given out to other players only if you aren't lowest, or tied for lowest. Otherwise, the cards are discarded. If you and your son were the only ones playing, and you were at the same level, then you would discard the cards. 3) You may discard your Race or Class at any time, even if it's not your turn. You may play a Race or Class at any time during your turn (that includes during combat). However, Elf is a Race and Warrior is a Class, and you're normally allowed one Race and one Class in play at a time, so you wouldn't have to discard your Elf to play Warrior. |

Thanks for the answers. So when i go to charity move...do i give people as many as i want..like if I have 8 cards, can i give one person all them..or is each person only get 1...like if its just me and my son playing, would I give him 3 cards if he was lower than me or just one and discard rest..or is it my choice.
Second, so in combat, i can have an elf played on the table, and change it to a halfling if i want right in the middle of battle if it will benefit me in some way or form? Ty so much for your response and helping out. I think its a fun game..just want to make sure i have the rules right. Cajun |

When Charity comes, you have to deal the low-level cards as equal as possible.
For example, if you have 8 cards and there are three players at a level lower than yours, you must give one card to each player. If there are two such players, then you must give one card to one player and two to another. If there are four players, you must give one card per player to three players of your choice, so the fourth gets nothing. As for the second question, you gain the abilities of a new race/class and activated abilities of the previous one (abilities that cost discarding). For example, if you are a warrior and you fight the mob with at least one Undead, you can discard up to 3 cards for Berserking, then become a cleric instead of the warrior and discard up to 3 cards for Turning and you will have bonuses from both of the abilities. Keep in mind, however, race bonuses from items are not "paid for" like class abilities and thus do not persist after you change race. Also, you cannot switch gear during combat. So that if you were using an elf-only or elf-bonus item in combat and switched to halfling, you would lose the item bonus for being an elf. You would not gain the halfling bonus for any item you were carrying but not using at the start of battle; you would gain a halfling bonus for an item which was already in use at the start of combat if you later became a halfling. |

Another question, with all the decks available is there a certain number of cards you have to have for the game or can you buy like munchkin 2 then just put it together with the first one? Also, how do you manage if your friends bring over there decks as well....thanks!

You can mix as many as you want. Doors go into one stack, Treasures into another.
For example, we mixed Munchkin1-4 and SuperMunchkin. And we're going to have more... |

For the second question about friends bringing decks is if they have the same back then you should write a list so you know which cards belong to which person for example you have original munchkin and they bring expansion pack 2. I think there is a list on this site somewhere which also tells you. If they have a different back for example you have original munchkin and your friend brings munchkin fu. They have different coloured backs so will be easy to work out without a list. |
