Default Munckhin Fu 2 Misprinted Backs

To the Powers That Be,

I recently received my order of Munchkin Fu and Munchkin Fu 2 from Warehouse 23, and my MF2 (3rd Printing, August 2010) cards have their backs misprinted: when you look at the backs of a a mixed MF/MF2 hand, the MF cards have "Munchkin Fu" written to the right (IIRC), whereas the MF2 cards have "Munchkin Fu" written to the left (or vice versa. I don't have my cards at hand at the moment).

Is this a known Errata affecting the whole 3rd printing, or did I "only" get a defective copy?

Thanks for your help!

Mine has the same problem.

But I didn't think much of it. I just put all the cards with their backs facing the same side.

Sounds like it's not an isolated misprint, then. Drat.

The problem is not the draw pile. It's when the cards are in your hands: Either your opponents will be able to distinguish your MF cards from your MF2 cards by their differently-orientated back text, or you'll get a mighty neck- or eye-strain by having to read the card fronts in two opposite directions if you arrange the back text in the same direction...

Note to self: Fu to the back of my 'to get' list..

This was an error on our part when setting up the files. It's totally annoying and we've all kicked ourselves for not checking. (And added a line to all the appropriate checklists for the future.) We apologize to everyone for our carelessness.

That said, we don't think the advantage gained by knowing which set a card comes from unbalances things -- after all, the cards are split 60/40 between the sets, which is fairly close to an even distribution. If it were one specific card that had been marked, that would be different.

ETA: By the way, this is my last post for several days; I'll be out of town on urgent family business and away from the net. So I'm not ignoring your replies here, at least not actively -- I'm just off-grid.

I'll poke this up the line to make sure someone sees it (Andrew may already be away for a few days), but I ask this: Does it affect game play? In other words, are cards clearly marked wrong, like Doors having Treasure backs and vice versa? If so, that's a big problem, and one that I haven't seen, and I'd definitely e-mail orders@warehouse23.com about it. If not, then it sounds like more of a quirk or glitch than errata. I'll have to check out my own cards tonight and see if they exhibit the same printing glitch.

And, never mind. It looks like my post took two attempts to submit, and already there's lots more info to read. . . lol

No no, not this serious of a problem. The cards all have their correct backs, just with the Munchkin Fu logo in an incorrect orientation.

Yes, it's more a glitch than an errata disrupting the play. Though you could imagine someone allowed to pick some of your cards at random and really wanting one card from the MF or MF2 set; he'd be able to identify which cards are from which set from their backs. Or this could tip your opponents that you don't have "this annoying card" from this set or the other.

Anyway, as you wrote, it's nothing serious. More in the "slightly annoying" category, really.

Thanks for your answers, guys!

That's good to know, that it's not that bad of a problem. Of course, since you know about this problem and someone has to choose randomly from your cards, arrange them so they're all the same direction (if it's possible) and then shuffle them up a little before allowing them to choose. It seems like a fair solution to me, at least.

Random is random only if it is random......
If you know what card that is picked it is not random as you may indicate whether it is a good card for you, them or not good at all.
Always in any game if a player is to pick a (random) card(s) from my hand,
I shuffle them together, each card the same way, holding them face down.
