Out to Lunch card

Hi, new to munchkin here. I recently completed my second game. My friends and I recently got into an argument over the "Out to Lunch" card. It reads The monster in this room is on break. Play this card during any combat. The player facing the monter(s) discards them all and draws two Treasure cards immediately."

What does "them all" mean. Does it mean all the monster cards in the hand? Does it mean all the cards in play? Does it mean all cards in play AND in the hand? A little insight from an experienced player would me much appreciated.
