Default I'm new: Game flow question

Ok, so I just bought this game and it's pretty fun. I'm playing with a bunch of friends and relatives that are new as well. We're enjoying the game, but we're having a bit of a problem.

Nearly every game ends up with all 4 (usually) of us at level 9, with the person who wins being the first person to pull a monster once everyone has run out of cards to buff opponent's monsters with. Is this how it always goes?

It's getting repetitive, and I'm thinking it's probably just they way we're playing it or the fact that we've played less then 10 games. I was also thinking that there might be an expansion that helps change up the game play

FYI: I have Munckins and the dungeon expansion

A good way to avoid this is to not constantly interfere in other player's combats. If you're throwing out +10 cards to stop a level one player, you're wasting that card. A good rule of thumb we use is to not bother until level 6-7, unless you see some ridiculous four level jump coming up.

You also want to try to hang onto items and cards in reserve. Blowing through them on every battle is going to leave you powerless for the next battle. Sometimes it's better to lose a fight or let someone win a fight than to reveal your entire hand. Pay attention to bad stuff, use it strategically.

Some games are that way, some are faster. I usually try to sell items early to level up fast, this worked in most tournaments I played. Also you have to know when to a play a card early in game and when to stick to it even if it hurts.
Most beginners play valuable cards to early.

What was happening is that with 4 people playing help was easy to come by early on. People were really eager to help for just a little treasure, rather the let the others help and get treasure. Next thing you know it, EVERYONE is level 9 and out came the +10 cards ect.

Messing with people earlier means they cannot acquire cards to help them or mess with your own combat later. Being aggressive early has payed off in games I've played before. That being said, you always want to have one card back that can stop a level 9 player if possible.
