There was a dispute in a recent game of mine - it basically all boils down to higher level monsters that do not pursue low level characters.
Question 1: The player and I were both level 1 - I encountered a level 16 monster that does not pursue level 3 or below characters. I used the Wizard power "charm", to enable me to discard my whole hand to take the monster's treasures. My opponent argued that because the monster doesn't pursue level 1 characters, I couldn't do that. I argued that the pursuit restriction simply means that I can ALWAYS choose to fight the monster, but if I run away, he will not inflict bad stuff. Question 2: The second instance involved a wandering monster card. My opponent was level 2, and could beat a level 1 monster - I used a wandering monster card that was level 20, and did not pursue characters level 3 or below. As per the rules, the combined monster level is 21. My opponent argued that since the level 20 monster could not pursue, that the wandering monster combination was an illegal move. I argued that it was legal, and they had to beat the combined level of 21, then resolve running away differently. The player would automatically run away from the level 20 monster, but had to run away separately for the level 1 monster. Who was right? Thanks in advance, community! |
