Default Munchkin thumb drive as wandering monster?

In the description of the Munchkin thumb drive, it says that you can fight it like a monster during your Looking For Trouble phase. However, if I have a Wandering Monster card, can I play it on someone else? The description doesn't say anything about this, but I would assume that any monster which can be fought while looking for trouble can also be played on someone else using a Wandering Monster card.

No, that is an incorrect assumption. The thumb drive is not a Monster card from your hand (what Wandering Monster allows you to add to an existing combat), but a promo Item. You can only do with it what it says, not what you assume it can do based on the idea that it is something it is not. Since the description doesn't tell you that you can use it as a Wandering Monster, you can not.

Who's on first?

Sorry, is the bottom line you cannot use Wandering Monster on Munchkin Thumb Drive?

I'm sorry, but I don't see this as a "who's on first" issue when the promo says what it can do and Wandering Monster says what it can do, and I see no way that it could be inferred that the two can be used together. The promo can be fought as a Monster by looking for trouble against it, but it is not, in and of itself, a Monster card that you can keep in your hand. Wandering Monster says you can use it to play a Monster from your hand, but that doesn't mean you can use it to play a promo item that says it can be fought as a Monster by Looking For Trouble against it because that is not a Monster in your hand. So, no, I don't see your comparison as fair or accurate.

My fault. You explained the reasoning in detail, I am simply too lazy or too thick to have understood it in length.

I defer, as always, to Erik as the penultilmate authority on all things Munchkin. I am only sorry you have to deal with lunkheads like me.
