I was playing a game of Munchkin last night with friends. We had a full set of Munchkin and a friend added in his Star set. It created the most ridiculous combination and more frustration for players than any thing yet.
I believe we were in Dungeon of GM-ly Generosity. The effect allowed players to draw an additional treasure card any time they drew a treasure. I was playing as the Mutant from Star Munchkin. The Mutant's ability allows you to discard two door or treasure cards and then draw one face down card from the respective deck. When that ability is combined with the dungeon a player is able to discard two treasure cards and then draw two face down treasures any time except when in combat. I'm sure you can imagine how annoyed my group was when they realized that I could go through the entire deck looking for the cards I wanted. It got to the point where the owner of the Star set forbid me to use the ability of the card since it was in his set (as per the rulebook). I ended up only going through about half of the deck. I suppose being able to go through all of the treasure cards is a bit broken. What do you think? |

Works the same way as the epic cleric ability and the same dungeon. It's only broken if nobody can curse you to get rid of the Mutant or nobody wants to discard 4 cards to change the dungeon to stop you... if they let you do it, then hey, do it.

The Demented Dungeons set really changes the whole game and adds a lot of craziness. That's the purpose of the set, and some people really like it.

I'm not too worried about this combo.
It you are, just remove that Dungeon card from the set when mixing Star Munchkin into your game. Or house rule that any Mutant using this trick needs to buy the snack and drinks.

You're right! Nobody even thought to try to change the dungeon on me. They just got mad about me doing it and about it being legal for me to do it. They gave up trying to stop me when they realized that I was acting legally. They may hate me more when I tell them that they had a completely legal way to stop me.

That's a frequently overlooked rule, which is why we boxed it out in the Cthulhu 4 and reprinted Munchkin 6 rulesheets.
