Power cell charger?

Am I missing something? I was looking through Ultratech and noticed power cells are rechargeable.. but their are no rules for recharging them or device to recharge them. WTF?

Maybe because it's simpler than plugging your cell phone (if the default rechargeable cells are used)?

Assume 3 ft of standard cord come free with every B cell or higher.

Right but how long does it take to charge them? It just feels like they forgot to talk about charging the cells.

Since they can apparently instantly discharge (or close to it) I'd say if you can pump enough power into them at once you could pretty much instantly charge them, too. (Fast discharge is often connected to fast charge.) For game purposes you can probably set your own times based on real-world batteries, but current battery tech and Ultra-Tech power cells are totally different things.

This was not possible to include in UT due to the mandate for a not-too crunchy book.

UT doesn't tell you how much energy is a given cell or what the output of "external power" is either. Lacking numbers for either factor, no calculations can be made.

I suppose a number or two could have been just made up but you can do that as well as the author could have. Pick whatever recharge time sounds reasonable to you.
