Using Bruno's table for pieces, I've come up with a few "sets" of armor. The in-universe explanation is that armorsmiths are more likely to sell the armors as sets rather than piecemeal, particularly stuff that can be bought "off the rack", such as mail suits, or are custom jobs, such as full plate armors.
My main concern is that I might have missed a few common sets of armor, or that I've given some sets incorrect pieces. (No idea if Low-Tech has anything similar, but these might work well in a Fantasy setting, particularly one set in a Renaissance-like era or a Dungeon Fantasy setting.) Civilian (this suit is included in the standard wardrobe everyone gets for free) Leather Jacket (DR 1*, torso, arms) Leather Pants (DR 1*, groin, legs) Sturdy Hat (DR 1*, skull) Cloth Gloves (DR 0, hands) or Leather Gloves (DR 1*, hands) Sandals (DR 0, feet) or Shoes (DR 1*, feet) Weight: 8.95 lbs w/ cloth gloves and sandals, 10.5 w/ leather gloves and shoes Light Leather ($210) Light Leather Armor (DR 1, torso, groin) Light Leather Leggings (DR 1, legs) Light Leather Sleeves (DR 1, arms) Sturdy Hat (DR 1*, skull) Leather Gloves (DR 1*, hands) Shoes (DR 1*, feet) Weight: 15.5 lbs Leather ($355) Leather Armor (DR 2, torso, groin) Leather Sleeves (DR 2, arms) Leather Leggings (DR 2, legs) Leather Hood (DR 2, skull, neck) Leather Gloves (DR 1*, hands) Ankle Boots (DR 2*, feet) Weight: 30.25 lbs Heavy Leather ($580) Heavy Leather Armor (DR 3, torso, groin) Heavy Leather Leggings (DR 3, legs) Heavy Leather Sleeves (DR 3, arms) Heavy Leather Hood (DR 3, skull, neck) Heavy Leather Gloves (DR 2*, hands) Calf Boots (DR 2*, feet, partial legs) Weight: 52.25 lbs Light Scale ($835) Light Scale Hauberk (DR 3, torso, groin) Light Scale Leggings (DR 3, legs) Light Scale Sleeves (DR 3, arms) Heavy Leather Hood (DR 3, skull, neck) Heavy Leather Gloves (DR 2*, hands) Ankle Boots (DR 2*, feet) Weight: 42 lbs Mail ($980) Mail Hauberk (DR 4/2*, torso, groin) Mail Leggings (DR 4/2*, legs) Mail Sleeves (DR 4/2*, arms) Mail Coif (DR 4/2*, skull, neck) Mail Gloves (DR 4/2*, hands) Calf Boots (DR 2*, feet, partial legs) Weight: 40.75 lbs Note: Mail is sometimes referred to as "chain" armor (the term "chainmail" is needlessly redundant).
