Does Everyone Play With All Expansions?

I am mainly referring to the fantasy Munchkin, as I have bought 2, 4, 6, & 7 and the core set of course just yesterday. Firstly I feel compelled to say... wow, just amazingly fun! I can't get enough, best board game (if thats what it is still considered) ever. Anyways onto the topic.

What sets do you all play with mixed in together? even with just those expansions our door cards are too high to stack on top of each other hah, so we end up with about 3 stacks... and finding races and classes seems to be more sparse than the couple of just using the care set games were.

short answer: no, except for special situations and even that is extremely rare.

Middle answer: several threads on different combination's exist u may want to check out. Some are more fun then others.

long answer: I always use all of whatever theme I'm playing. With the added race/class cards from each expansion, it seems to balance ok. plenty of ways to get those race/class cards. And with 7, adding the extra blend to it without the standout cards made it even easier.

Thank you for the response! I kinda get what you are saying, so take all my classes and race cards then only put in some from whatever set I plan on using as A theme? So like Add steeds and dungeons?

Is there A way to tell which expansion they are from? Cause right now I have a giant stack rofl!

I tried to search for combinations, but all that came up was combining different sets. I will have to dig a little deeper and see if I can find some of those threads.

My girlfriend and I play with all the sets we have. At the moment thats the entirety of Fantasy Munchkin (except like 2 promos), Munchkin Booty, and the Cthulhu core set/promos.

I like playing with everything all mixed up. Sometimes (always) the absurdity of it all ends in hilarity.

The icons on the bottom middle of the cards tell you which set they're from.

Ah, those pesky icons. I miss the days when you had to have all the card lists and such to try to separate your decks. Of course, I've yet to separate a deck once I've thrown in the expansions, but I'm crazy like that. I will separate a blended deck from time to time, but that's too easy. . .

It really depends on how many people I'm playing with. If its a small game then I'll just to the Fantasy core deck, Need for Steed, and the Waiting for Santa and Munchkin Fairy cards. With larger partys, 6+ players, I throw in more of the expansions. With big groups the Demented Dungeons is a blast too!

We ran into the same problem. The decks where entirely too tall, so we(well, Blu did all the work, really) split them into two seperate sets of doors and treasure. It's made the game much easier to play and we don't run into the problem of no races or classes and whatnot.

So what you are saying is, shuffle all the cards and what not without the races and classes then split them up and shuffle in the races and classes?

Cause we tried the whole, split them into 2 piles so that we didn't have to shuffle in between games... Hah, this reduced down time in between games but one game we had good amount of classes or races and noone of the other, so it kinda sucked :P granted not every game will have everyone with a race or maybe a class but still its more fun if everyone gets at LEAST one.

I would like to thank everyone for the insight so far though! I just redid the decks into their expansions (thanks for the icons info I didn't know what that was for ROFL) so we are just playing with the core set now and it was actually a lot better than with all of them (the ones I have at least)

That's not the way I suggest splitting a deck, and for exactly that reason. My suggestion is to split the deck non-randomly, before you shuffle.

For instance, take all your Elf cards - that should be an odd number if you have all the expansions. Split those into two stacks, and toss the Elf Hireling onto the "short" pile to make up for the inequality. Do the same with the other races and classes, making sure to switch off - so you don't get one deck with all the hirelings and another with none. Do the same with other duplicated cards, like Cheat and Wandering Monster.

Monsters and generic equipment are generally pretty easy to split, with a few exceptions. It takes a few judgment calls, and you want to watch your card interactions. For instance, Squidzilla and the Sword of Slaying Everything Except Squid obviously need to be in the same deck. I suggest keeping the Portals out, and just shuffling them into whichever deck you play with...or, of course, there's always the option of getting a second copy to avoid that hassle. :)

That's the basic idea, anyway. Your mix will probably be a little different from mine, because it's a subjective process. That's fine, though, because it's still going to be more balanced than simply chopping the deck in half.
