Default New color Munchkin set does not sit flush with expansions

Heyo, folks. Little issue which I need some advice on. I've had Bites! and Cthulhu for a while, and figured it was high time to start into the classic set, so I headed down to my FLGS and picked up the 19th printing of Munchkin(with the fancy colored cards) and Unnatural Axe. Much to my chagrin, after getting home and cracking them open I found that the cards are cut juuuuust differently enough that shuffling them ends up creating pockets of one or the other, essentially segregating the base and expansion. (Ex: first 30 cards end up being something along the lines of 122111111222221122221111111111)
Double-checked with other sets, and it would appear that the 19th printing of the Munchkin base game's cards are slightly larger in both dimensions than all of my other Munchkin cards.

So looking for a couple things. An explanation of why this is, a method of shuffling that doesn't take ten-thousand years that will create a more even distribution, or someone who's looking to trade an older printing for this one.
