Artifacts can be a cool part of an IN game. But in a game that says repeatedly that its supernatural abilities are not "magic," I find myself really turned off by the term Enchantment, used to describe the making of these artifacts. Does anyone have suggestions for re-naming the skill?
My own thoughts so far: --Artificing --Crafting --Shaping --Making --Working --Composing (in keeping with the musical theme) If any of these collide with existing IN terms, don't hesitate to point it out ... I have nearly all the books, but don't always remember every last bit of vocabulary.

I have been using "artificer" for anyone who makes artifacts, probably inspired by my Magic: The Gathering days.

"Imbuing", perhaps, implying the addition of supernatural power to natural objects.
"Exalting", for a similar feel, but with more implications of improving compared to the merely mortal. "Transubstanting", although you'd have to change Eli's Attunement by the same name. :-) |

Enhancing?
Resonating (as in 'resonating with the Symphony) Hmm. Music terms. Infusing? Tuning? Corporeal artifacts: Imprinting, since most of it is simple imprinting the soul of the character onto the device. |

"Composing" or "Recording" (for celestials, extending the music/Symphony metaphor)
"Weaving" (for ethereals, who see the Symphony as the Tapestry) |
