How should I read the rules on the Elder Sign whenever card?
Does the card offer two options: 1. cancels any card and player draws a replacement 2. removes all of one player's Madness Or does the card offer two options AFTER it cancels any card: 1. player draws a replacement 2. removes all of one player's Madness Must the replacement also be played immediately? Refers "one player's Madness" to the player of the Elder Sign card, to the player who's turn it is, or to a player by choice? |

In our game, a similar issue was brought up. We decided it was read as:
1. Cancel one card and allow the player to draw a replacement. Or 2. Discard all Madnesses from one player. The card seems to imply a choice and that seems to make the most sense. |

That's how we play it. Gives a choice.

In English, the dash is usually used to split a sentence much more jarringly than a comma. So it helps to view it in that light.
"Cancels any card as it is played, and the person who played that card draws a replacement immediately --DASH-- or removes all of one player's Madness."
