Hi,
The publication of RPK's excellent GURPS Psis got me thinking about psionics in my fantasy setting, specifically how they interact with demons. Simply put, demons (in my setting) are entities of magic and spirit from a realm of chaos and entropy. They have no psionics, no potential, and, in fact, or totally untouchable by psionics. Demons are invisible to psionic detection, immune to psionic influences, unfooled by psionic deceptions, and insubstantial to direct applications of psionic forces. How to represent that in abilities? Basing my initial stabs on the Anti-Psi abilities in GURPS Psionic Powers, I have: 1) Damage Resistance (Force Field, +20%; Limited, Psi, -20%; No Signature, +x%; Malediction-Proof, +50%) [x/level] This ability I modified from Psychic Armor, which is effect against direct and indirect use of psionics. Limited, Psi, is a -20% modifier. What would be a good value for Limited, Direct psi attacks? Also, would a form of Insubstantial work better? 2) Gaze Into The Abyss [1]; Hostile Dampening [1] I'm not sure these two should apply to demons. They are meant to be totally oblivious, invisible, insubstantial to the astral/psionic plane. 3) Immunity To Psionics [x] Should cover all resistible psionics. I forget the value of the advantage and I don't have my books here. 4) Obscure 10 (Clairsentience; Extended, Detect, Divination, Para-Radar, +60%; Limited, Psi, -20%; No Area Affect, -x%; Non-Switchable, -x%; Stealthy, +100%) [x/level, 10 levels] Modified from True Sight, which is described as having an Area Effect. What would the limitation be for working on the demon (and any equipment coming from the Demon Realm with it) only, with no area effect? Also, it's meant to be always on. Would a modified Invisibility work better? 5) See Invisible (Psionic; Accessibility, Cannot see astral, -30%; True Sight, +50%) [18] Any thoughts on any of these? Should any other ability also have No Signature? Thank you, Jerander. |
