I don't want to make this an accounting exercise, but people will want to throw numbers around in dialogue, so here's some for reference:

Purchase price of ship: $15,000,000
Quarterly loan payment: $450,000
Standard salary for spacer: $3000-4000 / month

Some random notes: The Firefly setting is in one big system with dozens of planets and moons, no faster than light travel. Beam weapons are rare, usually limited to the government.

The ship has 2 double and 3 single size crew cabins and 4 double size passenger cabins. The cargo hold is 30' W x 45' L x 30' H and can hold 400 tons.

Does the ship have any defenses? Or is that not typical in this setting? I truly can't remember.

A Firefly is a pure freighter, no weapons equipped. The Alliance doesn't like privately owned armed ships anyway.

Also, the Firefly universe in the show does have FTL. Are you deliberately changing that?

Joss says otherwise . . . the licensed products say otherwise . . . and I saw nothing in the show that required FTL. But feel free to consider this a change if you like. Also in the interest of avoiding arguments, there will be no map.

On buying the ship, let's keep it one player-owned for now to keep it simple. Given how the points for wealth work splitting it two ways doesn't save many points anyway.
