Default Re: Post-Apocalypse Campaign

That's where I cribbed it from.

I don't believe that a random equipment system is necessary, but properly done it certainly adds to the overall feel of the games I like to play. It also tends to create very Aftermath-ish characters. Use of the random equipment charts (which I can't seem to find now...they're probably in my storage unit) was technically optional in the game I ran, but all of the players used them if for no other reason than because they were fun. Many of the player interpretations of the equipment gained were rather interesting.

Of the players from that game, the one that sticks out in my mind was the guy who interpreted his rolls into his character wearing a football helmet (Helmet -- Success) with chainmail (Armor -- Success) and an improvised traffic-sign shield (Shield -- Failure). He was armed with an aluminum baseball bat and a Sykes-Fairbairn Commando Knife (three rolls on Melee Weapon resulting in one Success, one Failure, and one Critical Failure), a reproduction M1858 Springfield rifle (Rifle -- Failure, but only by one so I allowed it) and a cute little pink .25-caliber pistol (Pistol -- Failure). Fortunately for the rest of the party, however, he was also equipped with a well-stocked Crash Kit (Medical -- Critical Success) that he had salvaged from a wrecked ambulance.

It was a fun game while it lasted.
