Been pondering today.. How would In Nomine look like if it was set on in a Medieval Fantasy style world, instead of ours? I'm thinking of a Dungeon Fantasy-styled setting of multiple sentiant races, wandering monsters, popular magic, etc.
I'm thinking the Archangels and Angels would come across like Middle-Earth's Valar and Maiar, seen as god-like by the mortal races, but actually serving the One, True God. One option I've considered for combining Spell Magic with Songs, is to make Spell Magic part of the "natural order" of the setting, while Songs truly are Supernatural. Thus, spells don't cause Disturbance, while Songs do. To compensate, I'm considering making Songs more potent then spells, meaning that Songs can block/override Spells, but not vice versa. Of course, this would mean that Jean and Vapula's respective Words would require a change, to represent a shift from real-world science and technology to a world steeped in mana-manipulation, alchemy and artificery. Perhaps Archangel of Mana and Prince of Thaumatology, respectively? As for spell-summoned Demons and their relation to the Fallen, I was thinking of stealing a page from D&D and divide them into two seperate races. The Fallen would become Devils, while the others would simply be called Demons. Devils would be interested in corrupting mortals and extending the rule of Hell to the mortal world, while the demons would be more feral and destructive, caring only for their own evil desires. Well, that's all I can think of so far. Any opinions? |
