Heh, I was actually thinking about putting up a white-board with House Rules listed on it so that when people came over to play it would say something like: "Read the rules. If it's not in the rules, look up here. If it's not up here, you can't do it so don't ask."

LOL! I like this. Though mine would have to start with "Read the card. Now read it again."

I'll have to make that rule #1.

Hey! That's my line! ;)

Seriously, when I introduce new players to the game at a demo, I always teach them Rev. Bob's Primary Rules of Munchkin: "First, read the card. If it doesn't make sense, read the card again, carefully. Then, if you're still confused, ask me."

Before I instituted those rules, about 90% of the questions I got could be answered by saying something like, "Read the second sentence on the card." (If at all possible, I try to answer like that so everybody else at the table doesn't figure out what the newbie has.) Afterward...well, about 90% of the questions can still be answered that way, but there are a lot fewer questions overall, so it works out.

I should've linked to this post instead:
http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?p=495219

In that post, MunchkinMan agreed that if you lose one of the two Items cheated with Cheat with Both Hands, you may add a second cheated Item to Cheat with Both Hands.

Wow, what a confusing thread (the one you linked to). I'm still not sure what the actual decision was, even after reading it closely.

The Cheat With Both Hands card says that you can't switch out items and replace them with other ones.

Here's the gist of the decision. Say you've used CWBH to cheat items A and B. You can't switch items out - in the same way the original Cheat! says you can't un-Cheat an item - so you can't just move item B away and replace it with item C. However, if item B gets nuked somehow, you can put item C into the now-empty slot. On the other hand, if item A also gets nuked before you can do that, or items A and B both get nuked at once, then CWBH has both slots empty at once and immediately gets discarded.

Clearer?

Yes it is. Thanks!

So if I have two items on the CWBH, I could sell one of them and then add a new cheated item to its (now-empty) spot, right?

Yup. As long as the other item doesn't disappear somehow before you play the new item.

Wow! I missed that previous thread and have been teaching CWBH wrong when it comes up at my demos. My bad. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and let my regular players know how it should work.
