Of Flaming and multiple knee pads

Two things came up in a most recent game. The first of which pertains to the flaming armor and the Angry Chicken. I understand that there's items that add flaming to your weapons, but with fighting the Angry chicken does the Flaming Armor count as defeating it with "flaming" to get two levels instead of one. I allowed it because I wasn't sure, but I want other opinions on the matter.

The second is that the same player had received both kneepads (allure and spikey). I know there's know restriction on the item such as "armor" or "footgear" (to which you can only wear one of such) but since they're both kneepads I wasn't sure. I ruled that since they were both kneepads and are worn on the same part of the body that they can't be worn together, but I still wasn't sure.
