When using the DF Next Level CP award guidelines, does the party lose award points if someone is "mission killed" but not actually killed?
In this case, the party's Cleric had his leg crushed by a vengeful barbarian, and the priest now has the One-leg Disadvantage and is at massively negative hit points. The party is close enough to town that the Wizard can fly him back using a Magic carpet spell, and they have enough money to heal the Cleric. So the rest of the delvers don't intend to return to town, but wait for the Wizard and then continue the delve. In this case, should they lose -1 CP from the award for beating the barbarians? The Cleric didn't die, but he can't continue the adventure, which is like dying. |

No, dead means dead. Anything less than dead can normally be fixed, if you're clever.

"See, there's a big difference between mostly dead, and all dead. Now, mostly dead: he's slightly alive. All dead, well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing that you can do".

Heh heh! But seriously . . . the way GURPS works, nobody is going to go comatose on an adventure and then survive the 40 days and 40 nights to get back to town. "Comatose" leads to "dead" in a few days. Merely "badly hurt" or "crippled" lets you sit on the floor, taking Concentrate and/or Do Nothing maneuvers in order to use the DF 2 rules for shouting advice, taunts, etc. If nothing else, there's always praying for the hurt guy.
In the OP's example, though, the cleric could be healed. No worries, then. The party had to expend valuable resources -- time to wait for the wizard, energy to fly the carpet, money to heal the cleric, etc. -- and that was penalty enough. If anything, I'd have awarded an extra point or two for coming up with a clever solution to a problem!
