9,401 an SF thriller/police procedural The date is 3033 AD: 630 years after the destruction of Earth. In the colony Cockaigne, on the planet CD -40°898 II, the 'recipients' demand either liberty or death. The Commune is not inclined to give them liberty. The Empire is not prepared to let them die.As an experiment in the play-by-post format, I would like to run a science fiction thriller adventure called 9,401. 9,401 is based on an adventure that I designed for and ran at an Australian games con called Phenomenon in June 2005. It won't be the same this time, nevertheless anyone who played in Après Moi, L'Enfer at Pheno '05 will have had the adventure fatally spoiled. Sorry. The original adventure was designed to run in 3 hours for gamers zonked by a four-day con, and is about as complicated as a typical network hour of a mystery show like, say, NCIS. The new version is a bit more involved, and as I am unfamiliar with play-by-post I don't know how long it is going to take to run. My present intention is to post a burst of GM output three times per week (midnight GMT, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and allow 36 hours for all five players to respond. But we might adjust format as we go: this is an experiment. 9,401 involves a team of four criminal investigators from the Imperial Department of Justice and one Imperial Marines MP corporal performing a routine investigation into the death of a protester killed by Imperial Marines sentries on the grounds of the Imperial Residence on Cockaigne, a colony on the verge of a revolution. The adventure is essentially realistic, character-focussed, and serious. Although dressed as a police procedural it is really a thriller. The adventure has a web site with promotional and briefing material, where you can get more information. I have listed the system as ForeSight because I have the characters and their equipment statted in ForeSight terms already. If there is is a broad feeling among players that they would prefer GURPS I am happy to collaborate on converting. I'm looking for five players who
Any volunteers?
