Having moved house myself recently: best of luck, and may it all go as smoothly as possible.

I did that in 2016. The packing was a nightmare. The unpacking was actually fairly quick; I think it was only a couple of weeks to get down to three boxes, which still aren't unpacked! I totally empathize, and I hope your move isn't as much of a pain as ours was.

May your move go smoothly. It is one of life's seven traumas.

And thanks for the kind wishes re: my move. Preparations so far have been expensive, time-consuming, sweaty, dusty, fatiguing, and the source of aches, bruises, and insomnia. However, I'm making progress. If the movers show up on time next week, I'll be able to deal with all the rest.

Here's hoping the new home is comfortable and long-lasting.

Thanks! It's shaping up. It will reach "comfortable" status when I've added, fixed, and organized a few more things. That's mostly a question of budgets, time and money – and more the former than the latter, really.

I haven't had a chance to do anything with it, but it's all set up. All 10' of it. Which illustrates that the charming old building has charming old floors. Long live flexible shelving! It may look slightly warped, but it hugs the contours without shims (rigid and shimmed, one end would be a couple of inches off the floor, on a stack of wood).

Oh, heck, here's a picture. The weird dip in the top shelf isn't warping; it happened in transit. That shelf could support another 600 lbs. (I can hang off it) . . . but good luck getting a bend out of steel shelving.
