Convenient Handles

"Convenient Handles" has a gold value (100 gold pieces), so it's an item. However, it attaches permanently to another item, similar to how "Shiny" and "of Doom" work.

Since it is an item, is it correct that a player can carry (and sell) the convenient handles without actually having to attach them to anything? If so, do the handles lose their gold value once they are attached to an item, or do they add 100 gold pieces to the value of the main item?
