Default Alternate Hit Point System?

Currently, the ST attribute governs how many hits / damage your character can take before being killed or knocked unconscious (0 Strength) where negative strength equals “death”. However, for some reason I found a bunch of TFT characters that I made previously, that each have a NEW attribute called “HP” or Hitpoints. I haven’t played in awhile so I can’t remember why I used that new attribute.

Each character that has this new Hitpoint attribute (HP) has a value of their ST plus 3. I tried searching thru all my Hexagram’s 1-9 and the TFT Companion Book for more context behind that rationale, but no luck.

Does anyone here know which variant this reflects, where you build a character and then take their Strength (ST) and add 3 to equal their hit points?

Thanks!!

My current understanding of dying vs dead (YMMV):
(Would it be helpful to walk through each bit in the source text?)

Thank you hcobb! I will review your link. So, is everyone using their base ST attribute for their hit points? Or are you using a different system that looks at your ST and then adds a fraction of the ST value to a new Hit point attribute?

Thanks!

My groups all use ST to represent Hit Points, as per rules as written.

Note that Dying is new in Legacy edition, giving each figure a "reserve" of at least several additional points beyond their own ST where Physickers and healing potions (or maybe just resting it out?) can save them. In Classic edition hitting zero ST was a major bummer in the very best of cases. (But at least it's easy to write up your next character.)

That's new to me. But, there are other threads related, such as this one over on the house rules subforum.
