Templates based on watching relevant ST episodes, checking transcripts, and double-checking against Memory Alpha. They should be "mostly accurate" up to SNW Season 1.

If these templates are overpowered, it's because I've tried to model exactly what characters of a given species are shown doing in the shows. For example, Denobulans have full-fledged Clinging ability, but Dr. Phlox uses the power exactly once in the entire run of Enterprise.

Klingon weapons updated from Bob Portnell's GURPS 3E Star Trek, in GURPS 4E Martial Arts format.

BAT’LETH: Science Fiction - Star Trek. The Klingon “Sword of Honor,” invented by the legendary Klingon warrior Kahless the Unforgettable sometime before 650 B.C.E. It is a heavy crescent-shaped blade about about 4-5 feet long, with two or more secondary blades and three hand-grips on the back. Early versions had just a single, long hand grip. Some versions have secondary blades that can be used to Hook the target. It is designed to Parry using a Defensive Grip while also making slashing and stabbing attacks. It can use Two-Handed Axe/Mace or Polearm skill. It can also be used one-handed using Axe/Mace skill with -1 to base damage, Reach C,1, Parry 0U, and ST +1. Light versions also exist, which can be treated as being identical to the Qian Kun Ri Yue Dao.

While this is a science fiction weapon, it was based on the Deer Horn Knife and combat-capable versions have been made by Star Trek fans. Weight assumes steel construction and fan-made versions are typically Good- or Fine-Quality weapons. It is an awkward weapon, giving a -2 Unfamiliarity penalty; 8 hours of practice reduces this to -1; 40 hours eliminates the penalty. The weapon’s design gives the user DR4 to the hands on 1-3 on 1d. See Double-Ended Weapons.

22nd to 25th c. Bat'leths are made from hyperdense metal. They can be treated as being Ultra Fine weapons using the Ultratech rules.

D'KTAHG: Science Fiction - Star Trek. Also spelled Daq'tagh. A Klingon warrior’s knife with a straight double-edged arrow-headed blade with two secondary blades which can be used to Disarm foes. A rectangular hollow runs from the quillions to the middle of the flared “arrowhead” tip which can also be used to trap blades. The pommel is typically round and studded with short, sharp spikes. Treat it as a LARGE KNIFE, but with a +1 bonus to Parry when the secondary blades are extended. It can be used with Knife or Main-Gauche skill. Most are Fine-Quality or better. Some have Fine-Quality or better decoration in the form of elaborately sculpted hilts with inlaid family crests. Some have retractable secondary blades. It takes an extra Ready maneuver to open or close the blades after the weapon is ready, although it is possible to simultaneously draw the blade and extend the secondary blades with a single Fast-Draw (Knife) roll. The blades can also be extended while the main blade is inside a victim. Treat this as a Pick attack which requires a ST roll to retrieve the blade, but which inflicts half as much damage as the original attack as the weapon is ripped from the wound. This sort of attack can be combined with other All-Out Attack, Attack, or Determined Attack options which allow extra damage.

MEK’LETH: Science Fiction - Star Trek. A Klingon FALCHION with a heavy, sharp-edged forward curving blade and an open-ended bladed hand guard, used to make swinging or thrusting cutting attacks. The hand guard gives the user’s hands DR4 on 1-3 on 1d and can also be used as a Hook in order to Disarm foes.

PAINSTICK: Science Fiction - Star Trek. A non-lethal Klingon weapon used for ceremonies, prisoner control, and torture. Treat it like a STUN WAND except that it has improved Reach and users must roll vs. HT-8 to avoid Physical Stun and Severe Pain which lasts as long as the painstick remains in contact. Additionally, its internal power source is good for hundreds of uses before it must be recharged.

QA'VAK: Science Fiction - Star Trek. A Klingon JAVELIN used for hunting and to play the sport of qa’vak. The object of qa’vak game is to hurl a spear through the center of a half-meter hoop as it rolls past a series of stakes. This is considered essential training for the Klingon ceremonial hunt, which is also performed using qa'vak. It can be used in melee, or more commonly as a ranged weapon using Spear Throwing skill.

The "Double Sword" skill for the Bat'leth was a house rule that I devised before rules for double-ended weapons came out for DF. It should be replaced with Polearm or Two-Handed Axe/Mace skill with an additional Familiarity with double-ended weapons.

There's a peculiar rules element that makes it possible for Longevity to replace Extended Lifespan 1 and still see the lifespans seen in Klingon characters in DS(. There's a clause in the Aging rules on p.444 where _if_ you have Longevity and your adjsut hT is 17+ only rolls of 18 fail (and **** as normal rather thna Crit fails)..

This doesn't come up much until you see whoel populations (alien of gene-mod humans) with Longevity and high mods to HT for Aging (TL-3 mostly bt also Fit)..

Assuming a TL of 11^ that's a mod of +8 and even a bog-standard human with HT 10 has failed only 1 Aging roll for each attribute at age 87 (54 rolls for eah attribute) i.e. he fails only on 17s or 18s though these do count as crit fails and cost him 2 pts.Possibly relevant to the Picard series.

An alien race with the same TL but Longevity and +1 HT and Fit probably hasn't lost any Attribute pts at 87. They lose only 1 pt out of 216 Aging rolls. They might start slowing down a little (1p) by age 102 but probably don't start losing pt number 2 until after age 125.

So the very gray but still hearty Klingons (Kang, Kor and Kolos?) seen on DS( at ages that must have been in their 140s might have gotten there jsut with Longevity rather than needing Extended Lifespan..

This has been only a technical note on the possibilities inherant but perhaps not obvious in the Aging rules. I don't want to start a big kerfluffle.

The tail counts as a perk because it can be used as a very clumsy striker to distract foes or knock over small items. (At one point M'ress uses her tail to tease one of the other characters.) There are serious discrepancies in Caitian appearance since TAS, ranging from stocky and lynx-like to nearly hairless and almost human-looking except for their tails. I've made the assumption that M'ress is "stock" Caitian and Caitians shown in LD have had genetic or surgical modification done on their feet. GURPS Furries established that it's possible to have a three-fingered hand as a feature, making the High Manual Dexterity/Missing Finger combination unnecessary. Spoiler: BAT’LETH: Science Fiction - Star Trek. The Klingon “Sword of Honor,” invented by the legendary Klingon warrior Kahless the Unforgettable sometime before 650 B.C.E. It is a heavy crescent-shaped blade about about 4-5 feet long, with two or more secondary blades and three hand-grips on the back. Early versions had just a single, long hand grip. Some versions have secondary blades that can be used to Hook the target. It is designed to Parry using a Defensive Grip while also making slashing and stabbing attacks. It can use Two-Handed Axe/Mace or Polearm skill. It can also be used one-handed using Axe/Mace skill with -1 to base damage, Reach C,1, Parry 0U, and ST +1. Light versions also exist, which can be treated as being identical to the Qian Kun Ri Yue Dao. While this is a science fiction weapon, it was based on the Deer Horn Knife and combat-capable versions have been made by Star Trek fans. Weight assumes steel construction and fan-made versions are typically Good- or Fine-Quality weapons. It is an awkward weapon, giving a -2 Unfamiliarity penalty; 8 hours of practice reduces this to -1; 40 hours eliminates the penalty. The weapon’s design gives the user DR4 to the hands on 1-3 on 1d. See Double-Ended Weapons. 22nd to 25th c. Bat'leths are made from hyperdense metal. They can be treated as being Ultra Fine weapons using the Ultratech rules. D'KTAHG: Science Fiction - Star Trek. Also spelled Daq'tagh. A Klingon warrior’s knife with a straight double-edged arrow-headed blade with two secondary blades which can be used to Disarm foes. A rectangular hollow runs from the quillions to the middle of the flared “arrowhead” tip which can also be used to trap blades. The pommel is typically round and studded with short, sharp spikes. Treat it as a LARGE KNIFE, but with a +1 bonus to Parry when the secondary blades are extended. It can be used with Knife or Main-Gauche skill. Most are Fine-Quality or better. Some have Fine-Quality or better decoration in the form of elaborately sculpted hilts with inlaid family crests. Some have retractable secondary blades. It takes an extra Ready maneuver to open or close the blades after the weapon is ready, although it is possible to simultaneously draw the blade and extend the secondary blades with a single Fast-Draw (Knife) roll. The blades can also be extended while the main blade is inside a victim. Treat this as a Pick attack which requires a ST roll to retrieve the blade, but which inflicts half as much damage as the original attack as the weapon is ripped from the wound. This sort of attack can be combined with other All-Out Attack, Attack, or Determined Attack options which allow extra damage. MEK’LETH: Science Fiction - Star Trek. A Klingon FALCHION with a heavy, sharp-edged forward curving blade and an open-ended bladed hand guard, used to make swinging or thrusting cutting attacks. The hand guard gives the user’s hands DR4 on 1-3 on 1d and can also be used as a Hook in order to Disarm foes. PAINSTICK: Science Fiction - Star Trek. A non-lethal Klingon weapon used for ceremonies, prisoner control, and torture. Treat it like a STUN WAND except that it has improved Reach and users must roll vs. HT-8 to avoid Physical Stun and Severe Pain which lasts as long as the painstick remains in contact. Additionally, its internal power source is good for hundreds of uses before it must be recharged. QA'VAK: Science Fiction - Star Trek. A Klingon JAVELIN used for hunting and to play the sport of qa’vak. The object of qa’vak game is to hurl a spear through the center of a half-meter hoop as it rolls past a series of stakes. Elements of Suus Manha are retained in traditional kal-if-fee marriage duels.
