Very few things actually 'kill' steeds, by which I mean I found 4 entire cards that talk about killing a steed.

If you have to discard the Tiger for any reason other than 'I'm replacing this steed with a new one', you can put it back in your hand instead.

So does it mean that if you discard it due to selling Items for a Level, by means of Annihilation, or as a cost for Backstabbing, you put it in you hand?

Also, if you encounter it while Kicking Open the Door and try to defeat as a Monster, can you put it in your hand after the combat (no matter whether you win or not) as long as you need to discard it?

And last but not least, you can put it in your hand or must do it, as wording states that it "returns", not "may return"?

1) If you lose Tiger Steed by choice, whether selling it or using it as a cost to trigger an ability, it does not come back to your hand. Annihilation removes the chosen card from the game and ignores any "Return to hand" abilities.

2) Tiger Steed's ability is only in effect if it is being used as a steed. If you encounter it as a monster, it's ability does not kick in so it would not go to your hand.

3) We'll wait for official word but the wording does imply that it does come back whether you want it or not.
