I'm reasonably certain that silver beads can be obtained from jewelry or even some craft stores fairly easily (though not all that cheaply), which saves time.

Yeah. I've looked it up before. You can order solid silver beads pretty close to the size of 00 buckshot. The ones I found had a hole drilled through them (for stringing on a necklace), but that shouldn't affect things too much.

If you have time you buy silver beads from a jewelry supply place. If not you grab a cutting board, a ax and great aunt Edna's silverware and start chopping.

This depends on what your Hidden Lore (or maybe Physiology specilaized in werewolves) tells you about how pure the silver needs to be. Silver bullion is pure silver usually. Jewelry and silverwars may be too high in non-silver components.

<shrug> It's an individual GM/World-building call but I would not assume as a default that anything silver-ish would do.

I probably would assume that's the default, since horror monster vulnerabilities are usually things that a knowledgeable party has a reasonable chance to improvise within the scenario. Having to hunt down ultra-pure silver bullion rather than using silver pennies, jewelry, or household ornaments would generally prevent that.

Do you make _everything_ you see in the movies work?

I don't really see the point in going halfway on that stuff. If you're going to make the actual folklore/modern myth bane not work, making the actual bane be kind of similar honestly feels meanspirited. Either let the lore actually work (maybe not perfectly, but usefully) or go with something else entirely, don't taunt people with how their silver-engagement-ring attack was pointless because it's less than 95% pure silver.

I would give clues and even solid information as to what the game world actually was like. It doesn't take a lot of research to find out that melting down silver dollars to make silver bullets doesn't work on multiple counts (at least three).

I would even have an experienced werewolf hunter say "Kid! Don't even try that! You'll get eaten!". I can't even remember the last time I deliberately killed a PC. But a PC being stupid and lazy might be tempting. I'd defintely try and cure them of their bad habits first.

I would think flechettes would be even more bothersome to (unarmored) werewolves. Pack a shotshell full of silver needles and watch the 'fur fly'.

Even designed flechettes have poor records for stabilizing point first. Sewing needles should be even less likely. They'd probably fly sideways so you'd need a high intitial velocity and still get poor range.

Actual explosions might work better than shotguns.
