Do machines take Sense Rolls?

I was just wondering about the Sense Rolls (B358). Do drones, machines, and any sufficiently advanced drone, robot, security camera, whatever, make sense rolls when trying to detect someone who is using stealth? Or, as per GURPS Action 2 Exploits, does a character just have to "roll vs. Stealth, applying BAD" (Action 2, p. 23). (P.S., what does the acronym BAD refer to? Is there a page reference that makes it clear?)
