Rogue Time Traveler: helper question?

The Rogue Time Traveler is a monster from Munchkin apocalypse that is lvl7 and gets: "+5 unless you have a helper in the combat. He likes companions."

My playgroup had an argument on what a helper was. Some said the monster would get +5 unless the munchkin got another player to be a helper. Others said he would not get a +5 since the munchkin had a companion card. A companion card which is like a hireling. They said the companion is helping in combat, so it is a helper.

Can someone tell me if the card types listed below are all helpers or are other munchkin players helpers?- Or maybe even both?

Sidekick
Ally
Mook
Minion
Comrade
Ride
Companion
