Default Square Hex Maps

So I recently saw a picture of Gloomhaven's map boards. They were nice squares with hexes. They looked perfect.

The thing I don't like about hexes is that they don't conform to natural shapes which makes mapping a Dungeon or whatever difficult.

So other than buying a copy of Gloomhaven, does anyone know where one can pick up Dungeon boards with normal shapes that have hexes on them?

Get a box of sheets for printing overhead transparencies at staples and print clear 1.5 inch hex overlays. Then you can use any maps you want.

Of course I could do that. But that's not what I am looking for. Surely there M St be something out there that fits the bill.

I like using offset squares for hexes in this case. I have a battle mat with this pattern.

Warehouse 23 has two sets of dungeon tiles for GURPS that would work. No megahexes and not 1.5 inches, but...

Here's one of the sets

You know. I actually have the physical versions of those from years ago. I just never wanted to cut them up!

You could always create and print out your own, using mapping software that supports hexgrids (e.g. MapForge).

The biggest issue, in my mind, with producing these boards for TFT is the alignment of megahexes.

The second (again, in my mind) is how few 1.5" megahexes fit on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper, if one is to print, glue & cut chambers themselves.

GloomHaven uses 1.25" hexes without megahexes, making things simpler.

I've noodled over how to make my own boards with 1.5" MegaHexes and gave up.

If you have access to a 3D printer, Thingiverse has a set of 3D printable hex boards for GloomHaven, and one specifically that allows you to create your own - with magnets so everything sticks together. Shockingly, it's called MagHex. The designer has half hexes that would allow creation of square rooms, as well as walls and doors.

I'm just printing the last upgrades to my printer for now (yes, one odd part of the 3D printing hobby is printing upgrades to your printer), have to make another pass at tuning up my bases for TFT so minis fit tighter, and then I'm going to start printing these, and possibly remix them into rectangular corridors/rooms.

Do either of these help? I own a couple of the small ones and while a tad pricey, the quality seems great.

Yeah, those are pretty good!

Luckily for me, my wife reminded me that I have a dry-erase map that had hexes on one side which will work. Basically what you have up there.
