The Death Test box comes with counters that are a touch big for the maps you have, but is definitely a logical next purchase.
The PDFs of the adventures would also be a good next step. You don't yet have the full RPG rules (those are in In the Labyrinth) but the adventures have interestingly new and different creatures for Melee/Wizard play (especially Chaos Triads and Clockwork Tower!), and if you print the counters at 75% they'll fit the maps you have. After that you'll want either the Into the Labyrinth book or the Legacy Edition box set (which includes Melee, Wizard, and Death Test with the bigger counters and maps, as well as vast amounts of other goodies). |

Welcome!
The right approach here depends a bit on your price range. If you already have a big supply of hex-based table top gaming materials (e.g., a Chessex map or other hex-based terrain and a supply of mini's), then the new In The Labyrinth book is all you need. Given that you already have the pocket box edition, you could even get by with just printing out some hex based maps on regular paper. If you don't have that kind of supporting material on hand and/or consider it SOP to spend ~$100 every few months on gaming stuff, then definitely go for the LE boxed set. It will totally set you up, and is just an amazing product. It is an excellent deal, though everyone has to sort out for themselves whether they have the funds. |

I posted a few tactical encounters designed mostly for just Melee/Wizard - something hopefully a bit more fun than having two Heroes or Wizards duke it out. They're free, and can give you something new while you decide how far you're going to go.
All of these are designed with 1.5" hexes, but they should work just fine. here's the forum post for Panic at the Thisco, which includes a Melee-format map of a tavern (this was my most recent, and I'm definitely overdue for the next one). This was my first encounter - the summoning ritual of Murak Zorazz - and here is the updated map, after I made some adjustments. It was designed with simple terrain so you can just use a Melee map with tokens on it to represent the terrain. And here's The Druid's Hut. This one doesn't use a Melee-sized map, so you'll have to print it, or sketch it out on a Chessex map or something. |

Honestly, you can play full roleplaying games with Melee and Wizard, provided you don't mind creating a couple pages of house rules to cover all the stuff that comes up (and it doesn't bother you to be playing differently from everyone else). In this sense, Melee/Wizard is the OD+D of TFT. The reason to dig deeper in the commercial products isn't that you can't play with just the pocket box; it's because they are excellent and you will enjoy them.

A great name! Also, I wish to add a link to these adventures in the TFT Links List, at the next update.

You are the first (aside from my brother) to comment on the name :)

I am brainstorming more encounters - had to spend too much time in the real world lately to work on TFT. But, I'm hoping that changes pretty quickly. |

It is just missing the necessary list or table of adjustments to DX. One complete source for these would be the additional GM Screen. |

(And relying on a table can be misleading sometimes too. e.g. the one about -1 DX for multi-hex flying creatures, which the table author seems to have just invented rather than try to explain the actual more interesting rule on ITL 116.) Last edited by Skarg; 05-12-2019 at 06:13 PM. |

I feel much better about this. I apologize for any misinformation for not seeing this earlier. (I had also made the same mistake in a couple of other threads.) Last edited by Tom H.; 05-12-2019 at 08:11 PM. Reason: Elaboration |
