If the GM wants it to, sure. The GM can decide what level of detail to bring into the adventure.

Every campaign is different.

"At night, the match would glow in the darkness, possibly revealing the carrier's position. The distinctive smell of burning match-cord was also a giveaway of a musketeer's position (this was used as a plot device by Akira Kurosawa in his movie Seven Samurai)."
Seems reasonable. Of course, gunpowder is fairly rare in TFT, so the smell might not be recognized. Adventurers moving through a dungeon will in any case normally be carrying their own lanterns and torches, and so will the locals if they aren't in a room lit by candles, torches, or lava forges, so a match is not likely to be unusually obvious. But for a group who is trying to perform a firearm ambush on the surface at night under moonlight or starlight, a glowing match will certainly stand out!

Your giant will remain an unexplained DX 11? With a talent he doesn't have the IQ for?
And is that hammer an ordinary club (2d+4, averages 11 points) or the special spiked clubs that other giants use (3d+3, averages 13.5 points)?

Suggestion: Reduce DX by one, increase IQ by one, hammer does 3d+3 damage (min ST 30), but is expertly balanced for +1 DX. (It's a triple ST hammer so it costs $750 and weighs 12 pounds.)

Break the irreplaceable gift his teacher gave him and he'll go berserk and break you.

Is anybody else glad to hear the fire is out? I was worried for the temple and all those inside.

I'm sending my "thoughts and prayers".

Good catch; the DX and IQ correction is certainly on target - I'm not sure how we missed that the first time around...

Of course, the RedCaps would doubtless say that caps on giant DX and IQ are simply the result of the establishment oppressing the proletariat, and with proper education (or perhaps extensive exposure to the strange life-affirming waters and fires of the Temple) anything is possible...

Oh! I was assuming it was the SACRED FIRE and everyone was in big trouble, with all sorts of looming religious rites, special tax levies, and who knows what all on the horizon!

I'm running this tomorrow as a way of teaching a friend how to play TFT ahead of a larger campaign (the other players have some experience with TFT).

Was planning on having them make and play four 32-point PCs. Any thoughts on whether that will be about right for them to at least reach the end, or should I have them start with a bit of experience, do you think?

Made a bunch of 1.5" tokens for my personal use. Not too hard to find redcap goblins on line. This is nice too.

This is probably too late to help, but my thoughts for other people running the adventure:

My guess would be that four 32-point PCs may have some trouble against the opposition in the temple, though I would be very interested to see what your own experience was if you used that party!

MILD SPOILER

The temple opposition is light of wizardry, so a party with a couple of good wizards may have a significant advantage. None of the encounters are greatly overpowered, but there are multiple defenders, and TFT characters tend to be fragile.

If you play the defenders as slow to reinforce other rooms, the party may be able to defeat them in detail, but could easily get worn down.

However, I think you'd want either a larger party (say an extra two or so 30-32 point NPC follower/torchbearers/hirelings), or a few extra character points (34-36 points), or magic items for the PCs will give them a good chance at reaching the end. Much of it might depend on player skill. If the party than engage individual NPCs at good odds they will do well. If they get into fights where they are outnumbered, worn down, or shot at long range by potent missile weapons, they may be in trouble. One particular NPC in the temple is a game changer if he can be gotten on the parties side...
